I got 2 questions, but both might be related since they're both screen light issue

How can I have the screen lit when getting new SMS? Since I missed them most time because I have listening music through with my earphone (not on N900) and keep my phone away, but still in my sight range, thus sound and vibration are not option
LED would be the best I have, but somehow N900 blue LED are not bright enough (I know..I know.. I can just use other color, but I'm stubborn )

On the other side, how can I prevent the screen from being lit on automatic device locked? As said above, I'm easily distracted by the screen, so in conclusion keep having the screen lit only for Device Locked notification while I keep missing SMS because the screen would not lit is very annoying

as for this issue, I just noticed that any notifications will lit the screen on. is there any way to remove this behavior?
