great, everything's back to normal without changed settings. Also after rebooting :-)

Today it started again disconnetting and reconnecting every few minutes but for now online status and sync is ok...

Yep...pretty sure. Deleted a gmail contact on my phone and this occurred. Added the contact back and reset to how it was before...problems solved. Seems doing anything funny to contacts from the phone will result in this, any changes made via a browser or the chat client most likely will result in normal operation of the phone.
