I need something more stable, and more compatible with microsoft .doc and OO's .odt.

What can i use?

Nothing, by now. We have to wait for a new port of abiword.
I wonder how would openoffice.org run here.

Well since there are no word document standards, you can't write software for them. Only microsoft can.

Don't use word documents.

Don't accept word documents. "Please resend in an open document format"

The lack of Abiword is a killer. I wonder what the status of getting Abiword to run on the 800???
