Ah. There has been a lot of threads about this. Relating to overclocking (?) or the battery (?). You'll find it here in the forums, no worries.

Here you go, some of the threads:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38815

EDIT: sorry I noticed you already placed some links. Not sure if it can be "fixed" though, or if it's part of wear-and-tear.

It's almost impossible to avoid it...don't worry

I have them. Never overclocked the device either, so I guess it's unrelated to that.

I'd be willing to guess it's from components running hot and ending up burning something in the lcd itself? From experience, n900 only shows those spots after months of use

It apparently just happens over time, i noticed this on a second hand N900 i bought, but now i can see the spots on my N900 and my extra N900 also.

So yes no way to avoid this it seems, only thing i can think of would be to make some sort of extra heat shield behind the LCD since it is properly related to heat from MB chips (cpu, gpu etc)

Yeah, had it on my first N900 screen, had to be replaced, and my second screen (installed on the same N900) still had spoits, albeit in a different place.

Yeah, they never seemed to get worse, just stay there, so whatever is causing it is not doing too much damage
