Yes, I just wrote my sentence in a wrong way.
I'm not willing to try to replace just the gorilla glass: even if the glass of my phone is cracked and the lcd is still ok and actually I'm still using the phone anyway, I'm following with a lot of interest this discussion to try to have a feedback from the users who have already bought the complete lcd part in order to buy one for my phone as well.

Despite that, it seems that some sellers are also offering just the N9 glass for around 10$, even on ebay, and on youtube there are a lot of videos showing people replacing just the gorilla glass on iphones and other phones. Apparently it seems that the glass has to be completely cracked and removed first, and that looks like a very tedious and aggressive job even if they say that the process is easier after warming the glue film (silicone?) between the lcd and the glass with an hairdryer.
Even in case that this would be possible, replacing the whole part sounds definitely much more convenient to me

now we are talking the same language

the only thing that you will need (and i am almost sure that the new screen does not have it) is the proximity sensor... just put the old sensor on the new screen and that's all! check this post (in spanish) but very helpful for this issue.

cheers!

Just ordered the lcd from that ebay seller after having read your suggestion. I love this community.
I'll let you know as soon as I'll do the replacement

i did not know about the led light... buta that depends on the type of the screen, right?

I got my screen today! and transferred over the sensor and LED! all went well and now alongside the white housing it all sits flush again!

I had an early N9! and glad I was right here! the new screen curves in properly now! and all lines up better!

I found it much hard to clip back in than the old screen which I had out a couple of times (maybe the old one had loosened?

Just to report that last week I received the lcd screen and I've replaced it. The quality of the screen is at least the same as the stock one despite the low price paid.
The replacing process has been quite straightforward. Probably the only tricky part is to migrate the proximity sensor from the old screen to the new one. And also after connecting the two flex cables the phone was apparently dead, I couldn't turn it on anymore.
I had to disconnect and reconnect the battery internally in order to have it back working again.
Thank you again for your suggestion guys!
