hi all,
i'm going crazy to figure why n900 vnc viewer is not working trough gprs connection while it work perfectly if using wlan.
i want to connect to my home pc that is a win xp, trough a rputer whit port fwd configured. the server is a ultravnc last version.
i can connect to my work server that is using same ultravnc server, same version, same router scenario (but win2k3 srv).
i can even connect from another pc, trough ADSL using ultravnc viewer.

if some good soul can give an advice on what i'm doin wrong.

thank you

Maybe just a blocked port by the provider!? I'm using tight vnc on both ends and a 5 digits port number on win7x64 having no problems at all. My network is t-mobile (DE).

what exactly are your problems connecting? have you configured dyndns or something?

Greetz,

Shouldn't be a problem.. You probably have not set up your firewall correct. I would also recommend to compress the stream when using gprs.

the exact problem is that i press connect and viewer say it could not connect to the server, but only to my home pc.
work pc from n900: work
home pc from a windows machine via adsl: work
home pc from n900 via gprs: NOT WORK

yes i'm using ddns, no-ip.com, wich work correctly and use the right ip.
btw i try to use directly the ip, and tryied to remove ddns, but it doesnt help.

about the firewall/port fw: i think that wrong config of these means no connect also from windows trough adsl, but that work!

about compression for gprs: how i do that??

i really appreciate your help
thank you both

How about
home pc from n900 @ work wlan
? If you can confirm that it works @ n900 utside of the house, you can identify that it's GPRS related.

from home pc to work pc via adsl: ok
and viceversa ok
from n900 to work pc via wifi: ok
from n900 to work pc via gprs: ok
from n900 to home pc via wifi: ok
from n900 to home pc via gprs: not working

this means the issue ia gprs related, but also home pc related... but what exactly?
port foward at home work fine, as i use it also for utorrent and it work
