I don't know what has happened but all of a sudden my music sounds terrible. Each song sounds as if a instrument is missing or as if your listened to only the left speaker. this happends to all media players and with or without headphones. I know that isnt much to go on but I have not idea what has happened. I'm just hoping someone has something similar and understands what the hell just happened.

Just bumping this thread. I restored a earlier back up from before the problem started. Only restoring applications and... nothing. Tried uninstalling recently updated apps from before this happened but still nothing.

I was wondering if you tried that equaliser script by SavageD or others. If you did, maybe try reverting back to Nokia's stock equaliser setup and seeing if that works.

Don't believe so. How would I revert to Nokia's stock if I do have it and how can I check.

I don't know how one can check easily. You just have to ask yourself have you tried messing with the equaliser settings before? If so maybe you have a backup of the original equaliser settings? If you have a backup you can try comparing the md5sum on the backup version and the version that you had.

Reverting would mean that you will need to reflash your N900 using the fiasco image, that would probably be the easiest. Then there's ways of asking people to send you their original equaliser settings in a compressed tarball/zip/rar/etc file for you to overwrite your modified settings.

Speaking of which, I thought of a better idea. Judging by this post, I'll list the md5sums for the files that were patched here instead:
