Sorry to create a new thread, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Why can't I find anything under /var/log? Doesn't any application create any logs? Not even something like inside a Sqlite DB? I would like to know whats happening to the system, one of the beauties of Linux, clear error msgs is missing or what?

My $ says its due to the 256MB partition, and that the "average joe" (none of us btw) wouldn't be interested in them.

Why not under /home/user and kept it rotating?

Au contaire. Nokia have moved pretty much everything to /var/log (even error messages outputted by a third-party GTK program) via means of syslog. But the N900 does not have a syslog daemon installed. See if apt-get install sysklogd works for you and if not, http://repository.maemo.org/pool/fre...ee/s/sysklogd/
