I'm trying to use the homescreen adapter to create a desktop widget, but I'm having some problems.

I've been following these tutorials http://danielwilms.de/new/?p=126 and http://danielwilms.de/new/?p=140 and I've managed to create an executable and a .deb file.

When I run the executable on my N900, it runs as a fullscreen widget (which is to be expected when it's not added to the desktop through the menu, I guess). When trying to install the .deb I get:

home/user/MyDocs # dpkg -i maemohomescreen_0.1-1_armel.deb
Selecting previously deselected package maemohomescreen.
(Reading database ... 24849 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking maemohomescreen (from maemohomescreen_0.1-1_armel.deb) ...
Setting up maemohomescreen (0.1-1) ...
home/user/MyDocs #

If I then go the desktop and try add it as a desktop widget, it doesn't show up in the menu.

I've attached the project with debian files etc if anyone could have a look
Attached Files
File Type: gz maemohomescreen.tar.gz (68.8 KB, 76 views)

Hello

I can take a look at your code, but the first thing that came to my mind is that did you try to reboot your device? Because i remember that device had to be restarted when installing home screenloader for the first time?

Should have thought of that! Thanks I've gotten a bit further then, the app shows up in the desktop menu, but nothing happens when I try add it to the desktop...

If you could have a look at it, that'd be great

Got it working! Turns out some of my paths were wrong.

Now my next problem is that the example widget doesn't show up in the uninstall menu.. I have used the paths from the tutorials, but should it be installed elsewhere for it to show up under uninstall?

Change the section (debian/control) from unknown to user/*
http://wiki.maemo.org/Packaging#Sections
user/desktop would be best in this case.
