I hope this isn't considered spam, but just so folks who are ready for new headphones know:

Newegg is running a special on Sennheiser CX 475 & CX 485 headphones. They're already marked down, but they now also have a promo code to enter which knocks off even more bringing the price for either down to $19.95 - with free shipping.

Wow. I just wish I can buy it from here. Newegg seems to be catering for the US market I suppose? I'm based in Malaysia by the way, and 20 USD from 50 is a very attractive price to offer to just about anyone!

Just checked the FAQ, it says:

Does Newegg.com ship internationally?
Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico.

...and they even do not accept orders from non-US IP addresses. Same story as almost everywhere. I had exchange with their customer service about this.

Anyway, i wouldn't trust Sennheiser's choice of cables. They wear out quickly. Actually, they (the plastic/rubber mantling which is very weak) easily tear off at the connection point between the cable and the plastic housing of the volume control, and also the buds itself. I went through an expensive pair of CX 400-II to find out about this issue. And i'm careful with my stuff...

Sound is very good, build quality abysmal. I've switched to the very cheap Sennheiser ones that were given along with my (dead) Trekstor Vibez, and those somehow still hold together without issues.

There is always the Ironbuds kickstarter project. $21 for modular good earbuds, they are supposed to be ready mid feb 2012.
