I am trying to connect my N9 to usb to my macbook which is running ubuntu 11.10, but instead of connecting to view the files, it connects as wired internet connection. Connecting to win7 is no problem. Is this a problem with the n9 or Ubuntu?

connect the phone, and select "mass storage device" mode on the phones display. you probaby selected sdk mode or developer mode, which will make the phone behave like a network card.

Or, you could also browse the filesystem over bluetooth by pairing the phone with the laptop, and then clicking on the bluetooth icon.

I use this method often with my Fedora installation on the laptop. Works beautifully and without any wires!!
