Hello all,

Sorry for bringing this issue again, but after searching and searching I can't seem to find a solution for my specific scenario.

I attempted to flash my N9 using WinFlasher and I get the famous Downgrade disallowed error.

From what I gathered I must try to flash my phone with equal or higher version than what I currently have, however, I can't seem to find such a version. It becomes even harder because I don't know the current version of my phone.

Please help me. When I type "flasher -i" I get

Code:
c:\Program Files\Nokia\Flasher>flasher -i
flasher 3.12.1 (Oct 6 2011) Harmattan

So, if you can help me gain further insight on what is my current version, and what are the versions I can successfully flash my phone with, I would be very grateful

Thank you very much

Hello,

I am sure there is an easer way, but i am not really into this phone,

So, i would check your phone reference on the SIM tray (there is a sticker on the back of it) and search for it in Navifirm, you will then find the relevant version for your phone.

Yeah, I followed the steps in that thread in order to attempt to flash my phone.

Since navifirm doesn't work, I downloaded the firmware respective to the code on my phone (059M0N2), pr1.3

Upon getting this error, I've tried a number of different firmwares I have downloaded here and there (mainly in responses to similar errors as mine) but the result is pretty much the same.

After removing the phone from the computer and connecting it again, the "flasher -i" command yielded this result:

Code:
c:\Program Files\Nokia\Flasher>flasher -i
flasher 3.12.1 (Oct 6 2011) Harmattan
WARNING: This tool is intended for professional use only. Using it may result
in permanently damaging your device or losing the warranty.

Suitable USB interface (bootloader/phonet) not found, waiting...
Found device RM-696, hardware revision 1603
NOLO version 2.3.6
Version of 'sw-release': DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.398.3_PR_398
Success
however, the same error occurs when attempting to flash.

So is your phone product code that 059M0N2? Are you sure? Check that qr-code from settings-> Product info. Scan that code with some other phone.

It is the code that shows on the little sim card holder thingy. Apparently, the firmware that was installed didn't match that code. Neither does the firmware I installed now (which is the same).

Anyway, I solved it. Knowing the current firmware version, I searched for the same firmware and found it, attempted to flash with it et voilą.

From all the info I read while searching for a solution to my problem, I knew it had to be because I was installing a downgraded version of the firmware. However, "flasher -i" was not providing me with my firmware version.

By disconnecting the phone from the computer and attempting to turn it on (the phone wouldn't get past the NOKIA logo, it turned right back off) and connecting it again, somehow "flasher -i" outputted the current firmware, which allowed me to search for a compatible version for me to flash my phone.

Thanks anyways people, you can mark this as solved.
