i kinda deleted some system files on my n900 that runs maemo by mistake. they were like files with the same name as of the folder that they were in with the extention ".exe"
is there any chance of recovering them? and i also deleted all the default ringtone files. i hope there is some way i can download them..
please help...

You have system files with an exe extension on your n900? Interesting. Kinda...

On topic:
What is the current status of your phone; does it run and boot?
What files/folders did you delete? (names please)

okeyyy.. actually the story goes i copied a folder from a virus infected pc i suppose to my cell.. the pc had this problem i mean every folder had a file named the same as the folder.. well i only suppose they might be system files for the extention..
i am almost illiterate with regards to computer stuff..
oh yeah it is running n everything like normal..

I have deleted all my system files before.
I stupidly done an "rm /"... *****ic. Yes!

Just restore and start over. You should not have any .exe's unless you are running (armel) Wine.

hmm i just restored.. the files i deleted(all with ".exe") have not come back and the ones with ".exe" that i did not delete are still there..
what would you say if i connect it to pc and run antivirus on it??

Forget it for now. Spend a few months learning, then reflash. I don't think you are ready for anything complex just yet.

yeah, sure, i definitely need to know more. bytheway i connected it to the pc in mass storage mode and ran antivirus over it. it deleted a lot of things and now all the ".exe"s are gone. turns out they weren't system files as you guys might have figured out already. so thanks a lot everyone for the help. i could still use a little more of it with my ringtones issue.
