My n900 dont connect to sim and shows a red cross on the sim icon ... I
idenified the problem "lost imei" .. Tried to flash the phone but didn't work ..
Plz help

Could it also be that the simcard holder has loosened and the actual contact with the card is bad or the gsm-chip is coming loose.

The simcard holder can be fixed sometimes with paper between the battery and holder, but the chip problem is bit more complicated see:
