Hi everybody,

I've been following the development of mer with great interest, and I'm almost ready to take the plunge. It seems to have great potential to breath some life in to my 770.

The biggest issue that is holding me back is sound support. I understand that I could get it on an n800 but not the 770 as things stand.

I've been searching online a bit, and it looks like the alsa folks have been doing a lot of work recently with their SoC (system on a chip) project to get free sound drivers for ARM devices. The nokia tablets are mentioned specifically in some email. I haven't been able to tell if it works or not from scanning the email archives, but it looks like they are very close, if not there already.

Will these drivers eventually make it in to mer to get sound working? Are the mer people talking to the alsa people? Should I have any hope?

Mark

Any hopes of Mer on a 770 with a decent browser and sound?
I bought an N900 but would love to use my "big screen" 770 IT with home wifi; internet radio and web browsing. That is all I'm asking

Tear on Mer ver 0.15 seemed promising but is anyone doing anything about getting sound too?
