how hard would it be to develop a peer to peer music sharing app that can only be used on maemo devices n800 n810 n770---buy a tablet and you get to share music---forget about last fm and all the rest---nokia could pitch in with its music store that it offers on the 5800 music xpress mobile

anyone got any ideas

Sounds interesting. Though I doubt it would be legal...

I wonder if one could publish a list of available songs using Avahi service discovery to provide something like a webpage and then use some simple (anything can be broken) password (e.g. the MAC id) to check that it's really another tablet you're talking to.

This sounds a lot like what UPnP does (minus the password authentication). With brisa, there's already a UPnP content server in maemo-extras.

the thing is everyone has got music on their tablet-why not share it with other tablet users only -do not see why this is not legal--both the tablets and the software should ensure that
