If your using maemo mapper, you can download topo maps for the US from Terraserver.

You will need to find the website addresses of the repositories and copy the urls to the maemo mapper manage repositories:

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19621 has the urls for the map servers

Use the Terraserver web site for USGS topo maps. You can download pretty large areas of maps, I suggest zoom levels 5 to 11, but play around with it. Once you download and save the maps, you'll have topos for areas you'll be hiking in.

Maemo Mapper is the program to do this. It's really good and free. Maemo Mapper is excellent because you don't have to geocode the maps you download.
