Sorry but i got a little confused about this topic.

I was thinking that we can not yet put / on the mmc with 2006, but sometimes i read about people booting from the mmc-card (and why would they do that if not for the reason they have / on the card?).

So what is the status here?

Since the mmcv4 patches and having 5MB/s with the mmc it would of course be super-awesome to put / on the card, right?

Is it possible yet?

Regards,
Sascha

Yep, read also News part here http://fanoush.webpark.cz/maemo/#initfs

Newest bootmenu.sh in garage SVN has timeout (so device will not drain battery in boot menu when device reboots unattended) and can combine ask + root option so you can set root device to ask:mmc2 to have mmc2 preselected but still have the menu on every boot.

Of course the downside is that you cannot remove the card without rebooting and selecting internal flash in boot menu.
