I've heard that you can't access your mass storage over USB. Please could someone with a device confirm if this is a rumour or not?

Thanks
Chris

Where did that dumb rumour arise?
This is not an iPhone. Of course you can access the mass storage over USB.

Depends on what you are actually asking.

Can you use N900 to access USB mass storage devices? No.
Can you access N900 as an USB mass storage device? Yes.

Where did you hear that?
Its the first thing the N900 asks for when the USB cable is connected.

I'm glad that has been cleared up. I can't actualy say where heard it.

Strange that you don't have access to the Mass Storage from the N900 it's self!!!

Is there no file manager?

What people mean is there's no USB Host, not that you can't see your own files.

Bear in mind f it's like every other device I've used, it will dismount the PC accessible storage while it's plugged in

He meant that you can not use the n900 as a host to connect other mass storage devices to it (like memory card readers, usb thumbs, etc)

You can't plug USB devices INTO the n900, so you can't access a USB stick on it for example
