Hallo to everyone,

I have been reading here for a long time and it saved my b.. often.
Thank you. You are great !!

Now I have a problem I haven't been able to find an answer ....

2 of my contacts stopped showing the name when dialing or ringing in. When checking osso addressbook.db, I saw, they were twice in it. One entry looked broken to me.
How can I fix addressbook.db?
Done 'til now:
- Exported contacts (V3.0 format)
- Settings - delete all contacts (addressbook.db still contained all V3.0-formed entries )
- Imported saved contacts
- Result: same situation

Can I delete the addressbook.db?
Would it be rebuilt?
Is there a reorg-program for this db?
what about the index db's?

Please

Make sure first that their number does not exist in a second contact.

I believe if you delete the addressbook it will be recreated. Just in case take a backup first. It is a good practice to rename first and if all goes well then to delete it.

Good luck.

First: Thanks Saturn

Well, I made sure the number didn't show twice. Then I checked addressbook.db with a hex-editor and found the addresses in question being there twice. Seems like some when the application crashed and left, well "leftovers".
So then I started:
- Backup - better sure than sorry
- Changed duplicate phone number to invalid one with a hex-editor
- Copied adderssbook.db back to N900
- Restarted N900 and looked at the contacts.
= N900 started rebuilding whatever - forever.
Hmmm
Looked at the filesystem and found under home/.osso-abook/db some db-rebuild folder. Seems N900 wanted to fix but either couldn't or I wasn't patient enough.
But ... the xxx.db file had now some initial size of 8192.
Good. So I reimported my V3.0 saved addresses and ....
EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW

Still don't know why the db had an error, but know now that saving (exporting contacts) is advisable.

Thanks everybody
