I use GPodder and subscribe to their RSS feed at www.ted.com/talks/rss
I know it's not quite what you asked, but it works well. Are you trying to download the videos directly off their website? Try the iPhone one. It may work...

Then, I have to try all out. and result is, I will continue to use the iPhone one. All rest not working properly. With mplayer, they lags; with mediabox/meidaplayer they won't start.
