good evening

I have now successfuly uploaded streamripper..

Status: Its now available in extras-devel .. have fun!

this program allows you to record internetradio-streams
and addition to that you can use it with streamtuner!

just refresh your package-list and install it

here a little description, how to use it with streamtuner:

1) open streamtuner

2) open the menu:

and choose [EDIT] > [PREFERENCES]

3) scroll down and edit the value for the option "RECORD A STREAM"

and type in: "x-terminal-emulator -e streamtuner %q"

4) but keep in mind that the files will be stored in the home-folder..
so add to "x-terminal-emulator -e streamtuner %q" "-d ~/.MyDocs/.sounds" to set the destination folder for the records to your music-folder..

4.1) if you want to place the record on your SD/MMC.. you should add this..
Nokia N800:
SD/MMC ext: "-d /media/mmc1/*path/*to/*your/*folder/"
SD/MMC int: "-d /media/mmc2/*path/*to/*your/*folder/"
Nokia N810:
SD/MMC: "-d /media/mmc1/*path/*to/*your/*folder/"

5) start ripping

Requirements for this howto:
- additional Packages: xterm (+xbitmaps) [ in !future! on extras, now in extras-devel]

EDIT:
streamripper deb-package-pack: (not needed anymore)
http://rapidshare.com/files/20007216...eb-pack.tar.gz
xterm deb-package-pack: (not needed anymore)

If I recall there was a previous bug that would leave streamripper running in the background when you exit steamtuner. I remember having to use xterm to kill the process. Has that been cleared up?
Thanks

yukop4: checkout your mail-box...

supergadgetman: if you use streamripper on top of xterm or osso's (maemo'S) xterm and you close the window it _should_ kill streamripper automaticaly

the both of you: If you have some time visit #maemo on IRC
and let me explain you how to test the packages on extras-devel..
I need to know whether the packages are working fine or not..
If they do they will be ready for extras..

see you soon

* Notice: streamripper isn't shown in the program, called in english: application manager, I think..
You have to install it by apt-get install streamripper as root...
I will fix that problem in the next days
and if you have trouble updating it try to reinstall it..

greetings from germany :P

I've been using streamtuner and was curious about the "Record" option so I found streamripper. I installed it but I can't get it to work. It says

"Unable to record

Failed to execute child process "x-terminal-emulator" (no such file or directory)"

I have no clue about the command line stuff on the N810, so if anyone could help me with this I'd appreciate it.

Also if there is some kind of very basic beginners tutorial on the command/x-terminal stuff, that'd be great. This is my first linux toy.

i have it working perfectly

in the prefences type in

streamripper %q -d /media/mmc2/music

but first create a file in the internal card called music and in prefs browse to the file and choose it
