try and reinstall camera-ui

Code:
apt-get install --reinstall camera-ui
also if you are one for apt-get upgrade DON'T upgrade these
libqtm-12-location libqtm-12-multimedia
it seems when i upgrade these is when the camera becomes unreliable

I updated to the CSSU from fresh install.
Gchat video call between Linux and N900 runs ok, with a couple issues with the feeds of the cameras.
Gchat video between Mac and N900 only works one way... if n900 activates the camera, the received feed from Mac (latest OS and latest flash update) is lost from N900 screen, even tough the Mac still broadcasts it.
I wonder if the camera-ui2 included in the CSSU may have affected any of the front camera settings.

No. These kind of incompatibilities are usually caused by incompatible codecs, especially since Linux <-> N900 works.
camera-ui2 doesn't interfere with the front camera at all, if nothing drastic changed in the latest release.

Many of the pictures I'm taking are not saved, they show as 0kb files. It happens most of the time I take pictures.

Thanks... would that also explain why the skype calls suffer of the same issue?

Is it possible to upgrade to CSSU and keep the closed-source camera-ui?

The easies way is, install CSSU and then reinstall closed-source camera-ui:
apt-get install --reinstall camera-ui=1.1.29.1+0m5

Hi,
some suggestions:
1) My main wish is still to improve the accuracy of the stored GPS position - see
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11934
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6584
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=142
Since camera-ui(2) is part of CSSU, maybe there are better chances?
2) Icons:
(a) the trigger for the camera button looks like a stop in Audio/Video
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=142
(b) colors:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=406
Take a look into the attachment for suggestions. (big problem to symbolize the solarize)
(c) GPS: It is possible to let the "satellite antenna" blink if there is no GPS fix?
3) The shortcuts should be listed in a Help/ About.
Also the installed version should be shown there.
4) Don't know if it is a general issue or only on my N900: After a reboot all settings of camera-ui(2) are lost.
5) Sometimes the lifescreen got black, if I pressed the camera button, I've heard the click sound, but no picture was taken. Sometimes
dsmetool -k /usr/bin/camera-ui
dsmetool -t /usr/bin/camera-ui
helped (as user, not as root) to fix the issue. At the moment the situation is stable.
Is there any logfile or a debug mode (planned?) to find out more?

But all in all thanks a lot for your work!

@nicolai great job with this... it looks great! is it possible to have both the stock camera and camera-ui2 and switch back and forth by renaming the file? If so where is the file located?

i really like the new ui, but sometimes i have issues with responsiveness - particularly going into the aperture or flash settings.
