yesterday all of a sudden my n900 stopped caching pictures, videos, and music

normally when i open the default media player it shows 500 music files and 20 video files and i can quickly browse through them but now it says no video or audio files even though the actual files are still on the n900 and can be manually opened through the file manager

anybody else got this problem and know how to fix it?

thanks
