Hi
I'm newly registered here (i've been arround for a long time) ..
I have an annoying problem with my n900 which is I can't install any applications from nokia's repositories (ovi ,updates ...) cause my country is blocked , but i can install apps from the maemo.org repos (extras , extras testing ...) ..
So i tried using tor which have worked for the browser but not for ham , tried seting (127.0.0.1:8118) in /etc/profile and as Acquire::http... in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00maemo but both didn't work .
then connected to a vpn (hotspotshield) works in the browser but not HAM
finally , though i didn't think it could work , i changed my dns to opendns in /etc/resolv.conf

i looked a lot for a solution to this block but nothing helped ..
so i came here .. i hope someone understands my problem and knows a solution or a link to one thanks in advance ..

If you go in the internet connection menu you should be able to configure a proxy.

not sure if this will help, but you can always try...
open xterm
gain root
export http_proxy=proxyhostort
try to install via apt-get
