i believe it cause by two things....

1.your pc usb port...
2.n900 storage type....

1.your usb port need atleast 2.0 if you want to transfer data fast...old pc have usb 1.0 while the latests use usb 3.0...

2.change your n900 storage type from FAT32 to EXT3 or other type...FAT32 have a slow transfer rates...EXT3 is faster...

Are you sure I can just do that? Won't I need to backup everything and stuff?

the information you have given points to nothing else besides your N900. same port and same cable permits faster transfer for your S2, right?

if fscking file system didn't make a difference, based on the info at hand, i'd say your emmc is wearing out. of course, i don't suppose i'm an expert on these things.

@pusak gaoq : did you notice his speed was fine when phone was new? so it's nothing to do with FS type.

1. I highly doubt it's the file system type.
2. I doubt it's coz of file system corruption.
3. I doubt it's the USB port / PC issue.
4. I highly doubt it's the wearing out of emmc.

- Make sure N900 is connected in USB Mass Storage Mode.
- Try uninstalling the N900 from Device Manager if you can see one. The unplug and replug your N900.
- Try another PC
- Try with the N900 turned off. It will connect in USB mass storage mode if connected to the PC while it's turned off.
- Use Teracopy (google it) to measure the copy speed in MB/sec accurately.

Nothing has worked so far. Is it hardware-related?

have you tweaked using swappolube?...... try disabling every tweak(load defaults) and try,...it might just work for you.

I had problems with shuttering audio (when played back from pc or car) when connected with the pc or my car's usb under mass storage mode while having custom swapolube settings.

Changing the settings did the trick.
