@freemangordon

Just wondering, but how does the Omnia HD achieve 720p? Is it using an overclocked DSP, or a stock one with the help of NEON?

Omnia MP4 decoder is DSP only, it was the first HD decoder I was able to run succesfully on n900. BTW both n9 and omnia codecs are from ARICENT.

Can you try copying a .flv file and play it with the stock MP? Sometimes it stays at those loading dots for a while, and then it just starts playing, but showing a blank screen. I tried to play a 720p file in between and that most certainly plays immediately.

KMplayer has no issues. I guess it's something to do with the stock MP.

in 99% cases you copied something wrong, try to reinstall original files with this command:
apt-get install --reinstall omap3430-dsp-baseimage-ti omap3430-dsp-libraries-ti gstreamer0.10-openmax libbridge2 gstreamer0.10-dsp
and kp49 modules, and check if it is playing normal 480p videos, if yes, do everything again (extrack n950 dsp files from n950 fs too)

Did you overclock? Try to switch back to default setting and see if MP is playing normal content.

* Open terminal and execute
$ sudo gainroot
# kernel-config load default
# kernel-config default default

reboot and check if it is ok.

This is the defaults:

Weird,
No error in dmesg, but stock MP says "unable to play video, format not supported." Videos work fine with KMplayer. This happened after trying to play a video in QMLtube. It failed to play the video in it's own player.
