The N9s transitions are cool, but a bit too slow. As luck would have it I have found out how to tweak the N9's transitions.

This MOD will make the N9's transitions about twice as fast.

WARNING: you may want to backup your files first and I am not responsible if you stuff your device.

Videos:

- Version 2.6
- Old version

Installation:
*I recommend removing any older versions before installing*

1. - Enable "Developer Mode" (In Settings > Security) and install the prompted dependencies.
2. - Download Installer zip file. (Links at very top of post and in 'Changelog' section.)
3. - Copy files in zip to root directory of N9 via PC using USB Mass Storage. (NOT Documents or any sub-folder.)
4. - Open the "Terminal" app and type:
Code:
devel-su
rootme [root password; default is shown]
sh /home/user/MyDocs/FT-install.sh
5. - Device will automatically reboot to apply transitions

To revert to Default Transitions:

1. - Open Terminal and type:
Code:
devel-su
rootme [root password; default is shown]
sh /home/user/MyDocs/FT-remove.sh
2. - Device will automatically reboot to apply default transitions

Im using it, so, its safe I guess.

Refer to warning.

Okay will try it then...

and its just on the root as if I use filebox and go all the way back or is there a system directory like on ANDROID ?

how did you copy them ??

i was thinking about moving them from pc to N9 folder and copy them from the folder to Root on N9 with Filebox, and then Reboot ??

is that good ?

Dont think using Filebox will work, worth a try though.

Xterm is a better bet if you know how to use it.

edit: the root directory is the very top folder in system files. you will not reach this via mass storage thru PC.
thanks I must admit that i don't know about Xterm, but i always loving trying something new...

do you have a link or something to the program ??

do you need a special program on N9 to SSH ?? last i tried SSh was with jailbreaked iPhone

I have not tried but have had thoughts about it the same way you have.

The theme files work mostly in the same manor the icons do.. ie. your current theme are the ones used if existing else it use the "base" stock ones. Similar to hicolor for icons. So a safer way would be to copy those files to the blanco theme rather than change the base theme. It would also make it easier to revert as a simple "rm" command would work.

I have however notices some bugs on this where it doesn't work and the base theme need to be changed. I do not know how the transitions apply to this though.

Unlike the N900 that has (mainly) one file, the N9 has many.

The main files are in:
/usr/share/themes/base/meegotouch/libmeegotouchcore/style
But there are more.

This MOD will make the N9's transitions twice as fast.

To Install, extract the attached zip into the root directory of your device and reboot.

To-do:
- Speed up charging/USB notifications

.

I wonder does it drain the phone battery? and what did you actually do to speed the transition up?

I've tried it but I don't see almost any faster or my N9 already fast, ha ha

copy "usr" folder from zip file to MyDocs (which is root directory when connected to PC via USB)

you then need to run xterminal and type:

devel-su [press enter]
rootme [press enter]
cd /home/user/MyDocs [press enter]
mv /usr/ / [press enter]

pretty sure thats right. if your unsure, just wait till tomorrow until I or someone else can verify its right. if its wrong, nothing *should* go wrong. only thing is, doing the above will overwrite the original files. backing up is a good idea.
I can confirm this works.
