On a side note, would it at all be possible to shortcut a script.

Forexample in windows i can open up notepad & type 'c:\file\file.exe'
Save that notepad file as a .bat (for example test.bat)

This is then a file i can stick on my desktop & just double click test.bat and it would automatically run file.exe

(hope this is clear here)

Now if i wanted to put a nice icon on there i just right click, properties & change icon.

Now would this be possible in Maemo(not ED) to

Make a file with a command in it that when i save it i could have the shortcu in the menu or dektop for exaple

"debbie gimp"

Save this as

Gimp

and add an icon?

shortcut maker.

As for using Linux as Desktop OS, trying using it first as a secondary OS

Try for example Ubuntu 10.04 (11.10 really sucks unfortunately)

Thnks for that,

Shortcut maker pretty much did exactly what i wanted!!!

Only question would be, i cnnot figure out how to change the Icon?

As for linux, using it as a secondary OS has not benefits, Linux doesn't do any more than what windows can for me, so it apperas pointless to keep changing & restarting my system for it.

I'm quite a heavy gamer & although linux can game its compatibility and ease of use is nothing to that on windows unfortuantly.

icon section on the bottom

as for Linux: it's harder to develop progs for Maemo on Windows than Linux
Linux is booting faster, requires less modern hardware, AFAIK uses less power

For windows program you've got wine

Thanks for that.

So i got my shortcuts now thats fantastic thanks for your help.

With this program i cannot select icons outside the theme, otherwise they just go back to defult for some reason.

is there any way to extract the original icons from the debbie image or maybe use debbie to some how copy & paste them into the N900?

If yes where are the icons located in ED?

/usr/share/icons/
and search somewhere out there

to paste them:
Code:
cp /path/to/the/icon /home/user/MyDocs/...
