Maybe something is wrong with your overclocking, try if it is still the same without OC.

I've loaded the default config & it's the same...
Sometimes it records but only wvga (& sometimes it records even if CPU is clocked). HD is out of the question.
Maybe CPU is overheating or somethng like that.

Latest kernel-power-settings "default" profile enables smartreflex, better move /etc/default/kernel-power to backup dir of your choice and reboot the device. also you may provide dmesg output for further investigation. Do you have some magic "patches" installed, i.e. speedpatch or batterypatch?

Don't know what dmesg output is. I'm just a stupid PC user.

When I reinstaled things (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=251) it could record even with smartreflex & kernel-config locked on 900.

I have no patches of that kind.

To get dmesg output, just open terminal, gain root (if You have this installed, You should already know rootsh or sudser, yep?) and type Warning - it isn't auto-updating list, it's just a "snapshot" of lines *up to* moment of execution. So, you want to execute it just after buggy situation.

and i figure even when dsp set 0 still handle record video in hd and playing video without the error msg "unsupported" or "unable to play"

is that mean it uses cpu instead dsp?

a simple way is to install the stock dsp
then reinstall the 720p dsp libraries
if it didn't work
well search the latest startup installed apps and remove them
then retest

Mate, I don't understand that. U have to make it a lil' bit simpler than that (as if to literally write me what to do)...sorry, I'm quite a noob...

These new codecs and the new camera-ui are certainly part of the best things that community bringed to the N900
848*480 wasn't even recording at 25fps without stuttering.
Now we can record at 960*720@30fps without stuttering.

However, I noticed a strange playback problem:
When I boot the phone, I can play every video I have without any problem, however after some playback/recording, there is videos that need several tries to be played (some old videos I have recorded with the N900 before and youtube 240p or 360p stocked or in streaming with cutetube-qml)
I use open media player instead of the stock one but It happens with any player that use hw accel.
After some tries it finally manage to play the video without problem
When the playback fail there is a message like this in syslog:

Other videos (I not tested them all intensively but mainly the ones I recorded with the new codecs in 960*720) play everytime even when the dsp is in this strange state.

Because of this I reinstalled stock codecs I already miss the HD recording and playback.
On a side note: Don't try to play HD video recorded with the new codecs with the old ones: it will fail obviously and for me it results in a very high mem and swap usage (memory leak in driver or mafw-dbus-wrapper ?)
killing mafw-gst-wrapper just makes the dsp crash and not recover.
