HEEEEELP... every time i try to install app or uninstall app from app manager a msg pops up says 'operation failed'...& at the same way faster application manager but with different msg 'package management system is locked by another process or permission was denied'

this is what happened when I tried to install flip clock:

sudo gainroot
rm -rf /var/cache/apt/archives/lock
apt-get update
Please post the errors you are getting here, if any.

thx for ur response & help... but i think the problem is solved...the lock file in /opt/var/cache/apt/archives/ was deleted by mistake but somehow I found this file in /home/user/MyDocs/apt-archive-cache/ I copied all missing files from this directory to the first directory...so now I'm able to install & uninstall apps from 'ham' or faster application manager

ps: I tried your codes by x-terminal & that's the result of last 6 lines:

Looks good, now try to install qflipclock

apt-get install qflipclock
