Try reboot, I had similar problem and a reboot solved it. After that I've never experienced that problem.

I didn't know what possible use the operator widget thingy would be for me, so I kept all boxes unticked

Today I travelled from The Netherlands to Belgium and my operator name never changed from 'Vodafone NL' even though I got warnings about roaming costs.

Travelling back to the Netherlands, The operator name switched to the Belgian 'PROXIMUS' and I got no more warnings about roaming.

Then I ticked all boxes in the operater name widget settings and killed csd, when the connection restored it read 'Vodafone NL' properly again.

cbsms.log:
17:20:47 network_service_status clear cell name
17:20:47 network_reg_status clear cell name
17:20:50 network_reg_status clear cell name
17:20:53 network_reg_status clear cell name
17:20:53 network_service_status clear cell name
17:20:56 network_service_status clear cell name
17:20:56 operator_code clear cell name
17:20:56 rat_name clear cell name
17:20:56 cell id change 46007643
opername.log:
17:20:56 Start Operator Name
17:20:56 state->operator_name vodafone NL
17:20:56 priv->operator_name PROXIMUS
17:20:56 priv->operator_name changed to vodafone NL
17:20:56 operator vodafone NL error 0
17:20:56 oper is vodafone NL
17:20:56 code 2 132 4
17:20:56 service provider name empty
17:20:56 set operator name vodafone NL
On a sidenote, how frequently should the cell id change? I'm reading 3 to 4 times a minute at the moment.

reboot brought them back. after next reboot they went again. will try another reboot when possible. its a shame microb can remember open pages AND scroll position. system is littered with bookmarks because of this.

Me too. I don't mind the new package replacement, but at least add the old custom name/color functionality. Many people want it back.

Please, before complaining, consider that this is a TESTING version of CSSU and changes can include regressions, failed experiments, incompatibilities (as it's this case) or even damage to your devices/data.

If you are not willing to take those risks, please switch to CSSU Stable, which is intended for final users. This is a version for testers or early adopters.

Hey peeps, there's a difference between expressing the preference that custom operator name configuration is back, and being 'ungrateful' at the work people put in / being not willing to take risks that come with testing.

Fun fact, if people that didn't like the changes like the cbs applet dropping compatibility for custom operator applet didn't voice their dislike of the fact, then no one notices. Kinda like half the people in this thread thought the cbs applet was comparable even though it was nothing alike until those who actually used custom operator applet complained.

Anyway, it's great to see more open packages replacing closed ones, but I presume CBS operator applet and qwerty12's custom name applet could have their code combined fairly easily? (Haven't myself had a chance to look at the source, but I don't imagine it would be difficult unless both are in completely different coding languages.)

I think that's really the most 'right' direction here, honestly, as doing so would benefit the most people with the least amount of inconvenience for the end-users.

People complaining about that their custom operator name got removed and forgetting what the people making the CSSU are actually doing...seriously they even get angry? Custom operator name and color...rather very useless... Get a life.

Thanks for making the CSSU folks...it's great you put your spare time in making such good software updates.
