Anyone here with any thoughts of the Noreve N9 flip cases?

After becoming concerned with reports that the Mekco cases are prone to leaving fine scratches on the sides of the White N9's, I had decided to seek out a Nokia CP-571 which seemed impossible(received the wrong case from 3 different sellers) so gave up on that.

Been looking at this one http://www.expansys.com/noreve-tradi...-beige-222565/ which should look lovely with the White N9, but would really like to know if the inside edges are hard plastic like the Melkco cases, or if they have a soft protection to the very edges of the phone?

Anyone?

My wife is using that, on her Magenta. Yes, the side grips r pure hard plastic... but not tampered & hardened as the scene with metals... and her N9 is yet scratchless [5-months now].

Thus, this case do not seem to degenerate anything. And yes, it looks lovely.

Edit: Spell checked.

Just dropped my black N9 64GB. Screen glass is cracked, case has same marks and one crack as well. However, touch screen works and phone is usable.

Now I have a plan to buy white case and new screen glass. I have understood, that this is ok case to buy from e-bay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-W...item43b1c6492b

I plan to purchase glass from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Real-Glass...item51a04bb42c

However, has anyone tried to replace the screen glass? I have not found a single video tutorial regarding the glass change and not even forum topics? Is it difficult to change? Is it clued to the screen? Does it need heat to remove it?

EDITED: Just found this topic regarding glass: http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ighlight=glass

Hi,

Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enRoL...ature=youtu.be

It says it's likely not possible to change the glass only. The digitizer will get destroyed in the process. I think you'll need the whole assembly.

Edit: In case you don't need white cover and SIM-tray (the black ones look fine IMO with white housing) you can save some money and buy this instead: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-White-Fa...ht_3591wt_1102

Yeah, looking at the video it really does look impossible to change just a glass on the screen. However, this information should be widely spreaded to avoid people waisting their money on the screen glass that are advertized and sold at e-bay.
*I also managed to make already the order and just spent 10 GBP on that piece of junk...

For replacing a broken glass screen, I'd recommend buying a replacement screen+touchscreen+glass as one part (the whole "front side" thing, basically). Might be more expensive, but saves you a lot of work and fiddling (if it's possible at all to buy the parts separately).

To replace it, just unscrew the two screws (one below the SIM tray, one below the USB cover), then pry the old screen off (using a plastic prying tool) and carefully disconnect the two connectors of the old screen: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thp4/7439274860/ - then connect the new screen, carefully put it into the case and put back the two screws - done!

I will first change the casing from black to white. If all works fine, I will try to remove the glass from the old screen (as I already ordered new glass anyway). With 99,99% certainty I will fail to remove it without breaking rest of the lcd.

After failing, I will proceed to the local Nokia repairshop where the brand new screen along with installation costs 125 EUR (151 USD or 98 GBP). It is the same cost as the screens are sold at e-bay and it is instantly available...

I ordered white housing on parts4repair.com (somewhere in China I think) for $56.50 USD. I took 9 days until it it arrived via DHL (quite fair for me). Shipping cost $40.33 USD (to Germany)
But all in all its fine for me and this was the object of desire since I slightly chipped it on the corner when my white beauty fell down on the asphalt.
Now I'm looking to repair the current case (file the corner round round and polish it afterwards) and keep the new one as a backup.

I'm in the exact same position as you and also thought of shaping the edge but I would advise against it. What I noticed is if I press the edge that is damaged against something hard like a granite kitchen counter or metal door frame you can push it flat. Its not perfect but it does help somewhat.

I've dropped it again after the first fall onto asphalt and I'm glad I've got the backup chassis. I wouldn't file the edge as it is still providing some protection for the sim tray and usb cover. You rather purchase the item below. It doesn't matter if the chassis gets scratched from debris as its already damaged. Its the closest case I've found that looks exactly like the one Nokia ships with the other N9 colours. I doubt its authentic though.
