this is not a bug, this is feature on n9

yup, healthier solution for batteries, laptops like my lenovo have been doing this for years.

But what about my application idea:
you plug in your n9 before you go sleep it wont start charging yet
You set time when you want it to be 100% I use 7am
This application calculates time to full gharge and when needs to start charging so 7am would be 100% battery
If it calculate that full charge would take 3h it starts charging 4am
but I dont know about coding or can charging be controlled.

you can ask ajalkane on the ProfileMatic thread about this...anyway just plug in the charger when you sleep and the n9 has a built in switch which would shut the charging once done while resuming to charge once below 94% to get it to 96%...

Guys does it make a difference how long the charging cable is? As we all know the stock charger is very short making it difficult to use the phone while charging, so I connected the USB extension to the charger, making the cable about 2m long. Now I keep getting charging errors. The cable is not loose or anything, I tried 2 and no difference. It's more stable when using the short one. But still, I get errors if I try using the phone while charging, but if the phone is untouched it works. With longer cable, I get errors regardless using the phone. Gone I those days I used to charge my N95-8GB and still use it.

N9 battery can be changed. There are some beautiful videos on YouTube on how to do this.

The iPhone 2G can be changed but it's better left in the hands of a professional due to the way the wires are glued AND soldered to pads which are held to the mobo by nearly microscopic wires.

In any case, it may bug some of our OCD nature to not see the battery at 100%, but as several others have pointed out, it's better to charge to 95% to have the battery last longer, and even when the battery does go to 100%, it's just a matter of time before the charge falls to 99...98...97...96...

@ Muzimak = my N9 is pretty particular about cables. I have found that some cables will pass MUCH more current to the phone than others. I have a particularly short cable that came with one of those portable battery chargers (from... NewTrent) that works best.

They probably could have calibrated the charge so that it shows 100% when it is really 95% on the battery, so it is less confusing. It would be nice if the user could set the 100% level to a % actual charged

On my N9 sometimes when battery showed about 35-40% it dropped down in a second to 3% by opening an app. after a few minutes in idle mode it showed 35% battery again.

Once i tried to let the phone run out of power until it switched off itself.
Charged the battery. restarted the N9 and never had this behaviour again.

Fully charging full discharge cycles, but most of all deep charge cycles are the best things available when you want to kill a Li based rechargeable battery.
Heat does a great job too, in this regard.

I am trying to disconnect my phone when it's 85% full and recharge it when it's around 50%.

My 3 year Vaio has a built-in function to stop charging when it's 50% charged for maximum protection and 80% for a good balance of charge and battery life. Unfortunately, this is a hardware function and can't be easily implemented afaik.

Did you know that Iphone users complained about battery life and Apple was advising them to do deep charging cycles to reset the internal charging chip?!!
Be glad you own a Nokia, they don't advise you against your wallet.
