Depending on what you have done before, you maybe will not have the real KP default settings now.
Do (as root):
This will remove the (maybe modified) default setting in /home/user and reload the original KP default settings from /usr/share (setting as default on boot).
Do (as root):

rm /home/user/.kernel/default kernel-config load default kernel-config default default
