For a few contacts the n9 created multiple birthday entries. How do i remove the automatic entries?

The same I had. Maybe you have enabled the default birthday calendar (since PR 1.2} and the program Meebirthdays both together. I loved the last because it shows the age (IMHO wrong with one year difference), but since you can not change color of the birthday events in Organiser Feed I've set the default one and had all birthdays double in the event screen.
Disable the birthdays in MeeBirthdays or if not in use delete the app or disable the default birthday calendar.
