New versions released!

EJRE 6.0 Update34, EJRE 7.0 update 6 and for the first time JDK 7.0 update 6 Arm Version (only ARMv7 headful).

JDK is downloadable directly like windows' JDK versions, EJRE as usually needs to compile "Java SE Embedded Download Survey" or someone should find out direct links to download pages

Is that so that now JRE runs out of the box in N900!
No need for emulation and twisted workarounds & such???!!!!
Does browser integration also happen automatially during installation??

Since years, Java SE runs on N900
But Oracle's EJRE must be manually installed (no deb available)

I do not know what you mean

No automatic installation, only manual.
Java plugin for browser is present, but unfortunately MicroB (Maemo's browser) doesn't support the correct interface.
So no Java applets on MicroB.

But on Firefox and probably other browsers they work if you install the plugin in the correct folder on browser installation path.

JDK working link

Working on arduino and N900!

wooo, wish me luck

excitement = dead.

Haha, i have to install ant, but it depends on icetea6, if my understanding is correct, the official jdk is better than icedtea, so how could i work around this requirement?

also, apache site appears to be down (at least it is for me) so I'm not having any luck there

New versions released

EJRE 7.0 update 10 and EJRE update 38 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ase/index.html
JDK 7.0 update 10 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-1880260.html

They are SoftFP only (Maemo is SoftFP), the promised HardFP versions (i.e. for MeeGo) aren't available yet.

Extract ejre1.6.0_21 from the archive to MyDocs in N900
Move ejre1.6.0_21 to /opt (I was using MC)
Run in terminal as root:
ln -s /opt/ejre1.6.0_21/bin/* /usr/bin/
chmod 777 /usr/bin/java
ln –s /opt/ejre1.6.0_21/lib/arm/libnpjp2.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libnpjp2.so
ln –s /opt/ejre1.6.0_21/lib/arm/libnpjp2.so /home/user/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so
Then in microB and Firefox type about:config in address
Search for java
Change java.java_plugin_library_name to libnpjp2.so
I don’t know if changing in about:config is needed because I did this at the beginning.
After that chromium was running java without any changes.
what changes or improvments comes in browser after installing java.

Well. I would guess that you can use some more java based websites. I am trying to get my online banking to work but I have tried several different times and got no result. Could just be the website for me though. It is know to be tempermental.

If I am using fennec and I have run the above commands etc etc what exactly should I put in the java.java_plugin_library_name? I have tried just the file name and a path to where the file is. But still have no luck. Is there a way to test to see if it IS working and it is just that particular website (www.danskepankki.fi) login I am trying to use just won't work
