The "sad" part for me ,as I see it, is that the N9 might won't be having CSSU treatment, like the N900 has.

Ok, yes, I am more interested in my N900 and I enjoy the progress it still makes (!) thanks to the community.

But who wouldn't want this for his N9 as well? Even if he liked his N900 more.

As a question, would jolla be able to sell their OS like micro does?

I wouldn't mind paying some moolah to get an entirely new OS, provided it works perfectly of course.

If anything, it's a brilliant business move, before you've even released a device, you'd have tens of thousands of people using your OS and consuming/producing on it, plus it's never gonna hurt when those thousands of people tell their friends:

"yeah, nokia have barely supported my phone at all, but luckily there's this new company that just got started"
"cool, what's it called?"
"Jolla or something...."

I'm sure you get the picture, so now you've got thousands of people walking around proclaiming (by the simple fact they've installed jolla OS over nokia OS) that jolla > nokia (which even past it's prime is still saying something), and you still haven't even started production of your own device!

mindspace is the hardest marketspace to dominate, and it's worth any cost.

I think the point was that Jolla doesn't officially wanna put themselves in anyway responsible to support N9 or to put people wait for any kind of effort from them to make finished product for N9 or N950. Their focus is on their own hardware.

It's a testing platform for them

Guys, what about the old n900 ? Would the Jolla Sailfish be available for it? I still have one laying around at home, would love to experiment with it

Pretty logical they won't support the N9 officially as already said. But, Jolla said the OS will be open source (it's of course already the case for the Mer and Nemo layer).

So I've no doubt that this amazing community will provide builds to make our N9/N950 lives longer. This will give us access to a brand new emerging ecosystem.
