I just read where you can control host mode through software instead of a modified adapter.

Now if someone would unbundle this function from ukmg.

I can unbundle it after people have tested it and that it has more functionality. Please recommend ideas and add some shell examples. That app is really just a frontend to a few command line commands.

Does this mean that I can plug in my Logictech USB headset and use it for Skype/Gizmo calls?

- not a problem if you insmod the appropriate kernel module!

- external hub is supported and working
- usb serial is supported and working (popular chipsets)
- external flash is supported and working
- external ext2 usb hard drive is supported and working
- external cdrom is supported and working
- external ethernet is supported and working (popular chipsets)

- but my guess will be that your specific needs may be limited by the application? IOW, will Skype recognize a USB-attached device, or is the client 'hard-wired' for the n8x0 hardware?

(hard to tell without the ability to look at Skype source? others with more expertise may want to chime in here)

Skype is not hardwired for a specific voice/speaker set. You can connect through the headphone/mic jack or connect a bluetooth headset (I just tested mine). My guess is that if you can got the USB headset working with the right kernel modules, it should work fine with Skype.
