Is it the likes of libqtm-publishsubscribe (>= 1:1.0.2-maemo) and the rest are the packages I have to install?

Looks good!
Now
Code:
sudo gainroot
rm -rf /and/*
umount /and
rmdir /and
to get rid of the last cruft.

Then try to install the autoremoved packages. But this might be a lengthy try-and-error process
Code:
sudo gainroot
apt-get install libqtm-serviceframework rtcom-accounts-plugin-facebook rtcom-skype-emoticons-theme nokiamaps-navigation-provider-settings-203 rtcom-accounts-voip-support libqtm-publishsubscribe cherry dsme-thermalobject-surface modest-home-applet libqtm-versit microb-geolocation libqt4-translations maemo-optify-runonce libqtm-sensors

Reading through all your posts...
There are a couple of weird stuff happening at the same time. Could you please point me to the How-to you were following to install Nitdroid to the N900. Might give a clue what causes this mess.

To get rid of maeflight, please try this as root http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...2&postcount=57

There are a couple of folders on your device, that might need a short explanation, which application might be responsible for the creation of those. These are
-rw------- 1 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 core
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 232 Jul 6 17:31 dbus-1
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 4 Jan 1 1970 fb-progress.pid
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10377 Jan 1 2000 rb.log
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 240 Jan 1 2000 rescue
Couple of applications might have created those like dbus, wazapp, facebook, rescue-os ...
Please try to remember the 'history' of the N900 software.

Yeaaaaaa! The link you gave removed maeflight finally! I'm so happy now! Thanks so much. The next line of action is to get my applications running like before. For the process I followed to install nitdroid. Having tried other methods, I used autoinstaller which intially came up with an error that I already have /and as partiton. I then followed a thread which showed how I could remove the directory /and. After I removed the directly via cuteexplorer, I was able to run the nitdroid installation process vis xterminal. Unfortunately, network connection became very bad and the process was stalled for severall minutes. Then i chose to abort the process and that was the point the problem started. Meanwhile, i had tried a process which resulted into wiping off all my data but I was desperate to have android on my phone which informed my decision to try again. There was no problem such as not being able to open my applications except that i had to start the registration of Yappari from the scratch. But now, yappari won't open. It only boots then shuts down.

Could be some permissions problem, a corrupted file system or some other error triggered by the terminated download. Please run some more commands to check
Code:
mount
df
free
sudo gainroot
umount /dev/mmcblk0p1
fsck -af /dev/mmcblk0p1
fsck -af /dev/mmcblk0p1
chown -R user:users /home/user
After those commands show no error, you might want to reboot. If errors occur, do not reboot, but post the errors here, please.

NB: I made a mistake initially by enabling sudo gainroot first. But i noticed I could not save anything until when i did a reboot. Thanks
