Could you post here last lines of /home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.log to let devs see what happened exactly on your device?
The content I have in /home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.log is not the same as the day I tried to create the group because, in trying to solve the problem of not being able to use whatsapp, I deleted the directory scorpius and its content.
The yappari.log I have now contains the following content - with phone numbers were replaced with xxxx...:

When I installed the 2.0.21 version of yappari, I got this same problem. I managed to solve it by erasing the /home/user/.config/scorpius directory. That is re-created when yappari starts again.
Perhaps this solves your problem. But recommend creating a copy of this directory before. You can rename it if you prefer. If this solve your case, I think it may be a configuration issue that may be causing the error and closing yappari.

I tried this but am stuck at registering. it is asking for the 6digit number (verification code) but I do not have this. I replaced the scorpious directory the original problem resurfaces. dont know what to do now.

I need a deb file of the yappari 2.0.16 release. Does anybody has a copy of it?

Yappari 2.0.16 is objectively worse than 2.0.21, you shouldn't install that.

Yes, in my case this happened too. He asked for a verification code. I received this code at the same time by SMS.
It may be that you did not have sign of cellular network of your service provider. Look check this.
Having signal the cellular network of your service provider, with a closed yappari proceed again with renaming the directory. After the renaming, open yappari. He should ask your mobile number. Enter the number. Having signal the cellular network of your service provider, you should receive an SMS with the verification code.
If that does not work, I can unfortunately not help you, but describe what happens to others to say something about it.
See you.
