Is there any tutorials how to create home applets with python?
After searching the forums I assume that I need hildon-desktop-python-loader and python-hildondesktop bindings. These should be availabe as debian packages?

I have N810 running latest os2008 Diablo. I have extras and extras-devel repositories added, but can't find above mentioned packages with app installer.

Hi amoult,

the desktop bindings for python are in the extras-devel repository and you can install python2.5-hildondesktop with apt:

1) get root access

2) type in: apt-get install python2.5-hildondesktop

I haven't found a tutorial on that (I will have a further look for that), but here is at least an example how to use it. Hope this helps you a bit.

Cheers Daniel

Thanks, looks like I had them installed already along with 'hometools' package which seems to be written in python.

Anyway, example link in danielwilms post worked fine.
just had to place .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/hildon-home and .py to /usr/lib/hildon-desktop ..(that wasn't mendtioned in the example).
