In the past, I've been using a spreadsheet on a Palm Pilot and, recently, on my N810 to track expenses for me and my friends when going on vacation together.

SplitTheTab is a specialized, more tablet friendly application to do the same.

It's written from scratch in PyMaemo, and I just uploaded an alpha release to the Garage.

You can find more details on the Garage page, or directly download the .deb package .

Feedback and questions are welcome, please use the tracker
for actual bugs or feature requests.

Below is a screenshot of the (to-be-improved) transaction editor.

The "OS" would be the environment included with the Diablo SDK.

That's correct - I'm using the Diablo SDK and created the screenshot in DIABLO_X86 mode on my Linux box. On the tablet, it looks like you'd expect.

1st app installed in almost 4 months! Installation is a breez, no hic hup! Nice app to the tablet, I specially like the report feature, just like a bikini, simple and to the points . Thanks, Henningspruth.

Feature request: can the clock and time be optional, as reimbersement rarely related to time. the calender is awesome.
bun

Hm ... the time is used to put the entries in chronological order. Maybe the window can be uncluttered by using a separate dialog to modify the date and time (which is not often required if entries are made in real time).

Your kudos for the calendar go to Nokia - this is a standard Hildon component.

Henning

Version 0.2 of SplitTheTab is now available in the diablo extras-devel repository.

This is my first "proper" tablet application, and I must say that I am impressed with the scope and quality of the development infrastructure (scratchbox, garage, autobuilder, ...)!

Version 1.0 of SplitTheTab was released today and is available from the extras repository.

Major new features include:
  • A built-in calculator with support for tip percentages
  • Report generation features
  • Export of the transaction list to an OpenOffice spreadsheet
  • Many minor usability enhancements

It can be downloaded using the Application Manager, or from its Maemo Downloads page.

More information is at http://splitthetab.garage.maemo.org.
