I think they bought their release date estimator from Microsoft.

Nokia outsourced the manufacturing to Ilmarinen. He's immortal and the Eternal Hammerer, but unfortunately his methods are bit outdated and slow.

I have a few theories:

- They were just targeting developers and techies with this device, but the blogsphere made it visible to a larger number of people. When Nokia saw the number of pre-orders they realized that if the device was not polished enough for average Joes the Nokia name was going to end up in the mud.

- A US carrier (not TMobile) offered to subsidize the N900 if it was made to support their data frequencies.

- They are stalling in order to allow for more apps and libs to be optified.

- Maemo developers want to stick to a more open source friendly release schedule: "It will be ready when it is ready."

Touch screens installed upside down.

Only work by pressing really hard on the battery.

Easy, Nokia is just slow, thats a fact. I Cant even remember when the did something right(on time). But thats ok. Its one thing to be slow. But just "GO DARK"...Do nokia even planning the release circle. Give away phones for feedback a week before nokia store dates, and expecting to changes in that short period of time.

This is sick. noKIA
