Just to further amplify the MOQ (Maemo Omnipotence Quotient), it's also helped expand my vocabulary by exactly 1 word:

But I have to agree: the responsiveness of the community is a definite plus point for maemo. One of my reasons for purchasing n900 (assuming it arrives before the parousia) was the community.
Nah, the one was my request; you just happened to be one of the lively hearts to have jumpstarted it anew.

I'll also add to this thread.

I asked about Eboard and BAM! a new compiled version was made by Bruce Forsberg within two days and he's even open for suggestions to improve it!

Good people indeed!

What I like best is things like when maemo mapper 2.6 didn't work with my N800/OS2007 setup then it was just a matter of dumping the source to disk, adjust the code, build and install and I had a working maemo mapper again, before my trip to unmapped lands. I couldn't do this that easily with any other mobile device I've owned.

In other words: The community is good, and the open aspect of Maemo is good, and I believe the former is made possible by the latter.

I'm curious about something - do those of you raving about the fantastic Maemo community and the advantages of having an open system run a community supported open OS on your full size computers?
