no it was half full at the time(and yep just tried to charge on the supplied new charger)- it charges fine on pc usb or an old charger.

Try to understand the charging behavior. Full charge takes about 2 hours, after it's done, it will on battery. So one charge it before sleep, when in the moring, it will never be fully charged due to overnight drain, 80% or so to start everyday. I am not sure I didn't check.
It can take a while to respond if the battery is very flat. Have you tried it again since?
