right when i type sudo rootgain it asks me for a passowrd

ut oh lol not having alot of luck am i

if i type root it lets me become root but its giving me the permisson denied so it must be giving me limited access with the root command but when i use the sudo rootgain it asks for a password

------------------EDIT----------------------

i have figured it out

i closed xterm down when asked for password , next time i ran sudo gainroot it didn ask for a password and the sheel was enabled :-) this meant i could use the command

cd MyDocs

and i jumped to that foler :-) happy days :-)

my problems stemmed from me not having full access , i used the command root , instead of sudo gainroot , this gives more privelages and lets me jump about etc

thankyou for all your help

pps
just incase is there a default password for sudo

This is what I did...

Open X Terminal

type in:

sudo gainroot

Then it should take you right to the /home/user directory. From there type:

cd MyDocs/

Hopefully it'll work for you.

Not sure what to suggest now other than the inevitable reboot. I can cd into any folder without any problems.

I think I need to sleep now, hope you can find a solution.
