I just use
cat /dev/mtd2 > log.txt

Which will grab all recent oopses.

Woohoo! fiasco-gen works beatifully, project homepage has updated instructions with links to debs that flash kernel.

aziwoqpds minstrel patch is now also included (along with matans iphb patch)

For some reason my MacBookPro refused to talk to the N900 even though it could see and connect to the ad-hoc network (this has happened before and I never figured out exactly why, basically it does not get IP from dnsmasq and I cannot ping the device even if I set IP manually)

Now I need to get some sleep.

I have built wpasupplicant and added it to my repo. If someone confirms it works, I'll upload it to extras-devel.

You can find sp-oops-extract in the fremantle tools repository (which contains a lot of other candies)


PS: rambo, sorry for my misleading statement. the unmodified CMDLINE is right for getting oops logs (i had problem with mine because i changed it in a bad way)

Started playing with packaging, there is a .deb in the SVN, but do not expect it to actually work:

Issues so far:

1. No icon in menu
2. Staring from menu does not work (run from terminal)
3. Realized it does not setup sudoers so unless you did it manually backend cannot run.

Also built new packages of the kernel, modules and flasher to set depends/provides sanely.

Known issues:
JoikuSpot Linux Beta 0.1 has some issues with current Maemo WLAN driver side. This will cause the N900 to reboot with some laptop models. If this happens, re-start JoikuSpot and try again. Typically second session will work. A fix shall be made as soon as possible.

I'm not expert but that module looks to be quite trivial network hook, they probably have a userland binary that does all the actual work and talks to the kernel via this module.

Hehe, they ran into the same issue we did; aziwoqpds minstrel patch (likely) fixes it.

If you installed this deb uninstall it now (can be done via HAM), it blocks the new Maemo release (unless you wish to stay for a while in the current one).

I'll try to compile hotspotized version of the new kernel in a few days.
