I was thinking about adding a slide control to dim the flashlight instead of just switching it on/off.

Now, I had a look at the source and there is an "intensity" parameter, but apparently, only 0 and 1 integer values are possible. As far as I can tell, the flashlight is controlled by some V4L-extension, but I can't find any documentation about that…

Does anybody know anything about that? Any possibilities to control the intensity?
I would be surprised if the flash LED didn't have these capabilities…

I would rather not go for software PWM

I forget if the intensity can be reduced for flashlight mode off the top of my head.

if you check http://mxr.maemo.org/fremantle/sourc...-rx51-camera.c you will find out, that torch intensity for rx-51 is limited to 1. so, that's the reason why there is no intensity setting in applet.
