Of course, you should make sure that you can flash by using USB before trying a new kernel, since if you flash a problematic kernel you won't be able to replace it with a working kernel on the device itself.
My device has something called 'fiasco-image-update' and the help text says that the parameters are:

Code:
fiasco-image-update [-h][-v] IMAGE
This doesn't align with what Matan says...

This is where mine's sitting at, idle:

Code:
Nokia-N900-51-1:~# cat /sys/devices/platform/omap34xx_temp/temp1_input
25
Nokia-N900-51-1:~#
Then I fired up HopBeat's Sheep game. Temperature instantly jumped up to 32 and stayed there. I then started playing a movie. Again, temp stayed at 32.

Code:
Nokia-N900-51-1:~# cat /sys/devices/platform/omap34xx_temp/temp1_input
32
Nokia-N900-51-1:~#
htop shows 40% CPU usage while playing the video, but (obviously), won't tell me @ what speed the CPU is being used 40%.

I am not concerned in the least bit.

Mine isn't warm, at all.

It seems that the fiasco-flasher is only available in PR1.0

http://maemo.org/packages/view/fiasco-flasher/

Is it save to install it on 1.1 ?

Flasher 3.5 will work on 1.1 just fine.

Yes, I know

But the fiasco-flasher is an on-device flashing tool, qole is talking about.
Some guys seem to have it on their device to flash the kernel without the need to use an pc.
But I haven't it on my device with PR1.1 Global FW.

About the idling issue, running 900/500 here:
Code:
900000 8689
595000 191
500000 3348
250000 463
125000 84050
That's 9.8%, 0.2%, 3.8%, 0.5% and 95%, respectively. Measured after reboot and idling for a little while, no apps running. Looks very cool Enable 2G mode, kill WiFi module and you'll get more than 7 days of pure standby time! (I got just 7 days with stock kernel a month ago!)

Someone mentioned that 2G radio was not working. I just made a quick test call in 2G mode, and it worked just fine. Also, a call was made in 3G mode, and it also worked fine. (Also, during this test I noticed that using 3G radio does not cause static into my speakers! Woo!)

Menus run very smooth now. Just as it should be, IMHO!

No difference on Angry Birds, but Bounce Evolution appears to run smoother now...

No heating up. I've been playing some videos here, and the device doesn't get noticeably warmer with 900/500 kernel than the stock kernel...

The most noticeable boost is in Application Manager. It no longer thinks "too long", but feels a lot snappier. And MicroB is now even more awesome! Hey, I think I'll try Firefox now

The firmware problem I read before flashing, so when PR1.2 hits the shelves I'll just reflash the whole dang.

Finally, a big thanks to Lehto for tweaking the kernel!

I have used it on my device with the latest firmware and it works fine. I have never installed it mysef so the reason why I have it must be that it wasn't removed in my firmware updates (I have always just done OTA updates which might explain this).

On my device I also have a /usr/bin/flasher which might do the same job, but I am not sure since I haven't tried it (the fiasco-flasher is found in /usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher).

Interesting, does this mean OTA does not remove packages ? That’s a good recipe for cruft... Anyway, is fiasco-flasher redistributable or not ? The actual licensing info conveniently gets killed by docpurge.
